Karekin Madteos Yarian

Karekin Madteos Yarian lives in San Francisco, providing a ministry of spiritual direction to local clergy and laity across a variety of denominations. Karekin came out as transgender after 21 years in the community. They are an author, poet, and social and political activist. Karekin is the current Sacred Space Minister for San Francisco, an outreach ministry to the city’s LGBT*Q community, serving as a chaplain for the Castro, Tenderloin, and SOMA queer community. Karekin works for San Francisco Night Ministry, and as Parish Administrator for Trinity+St. Peter’s Church. Their ministries also include work with the Recycled AIDS Medicine Program (RAMP), fundraising and support for the Imperial Court of San Francisco, and pastoral support to the queer activist community. Karekin is also a member of the Steering Committee of TransEpiscopal. They are a published author and poet, including such works as In Love and Service Bound, a history of the first forty years of the Brotherhood; How To Be a Disciple and Digital, a short book about faith and social media: and two volumes of poetry currently available on Amazon. Karekin lives with husband Anthony and their two dogs, and is the subject of the award-winning documentary film Changing Habits directed by Sarah Needham. Online, Karekin is known as PunkMonk, San Francisco. They serve as the Brotherhood’s Secretary.

Francis Sebastian Medina

Francis Sebastian Medina is a member of Saint John the Evangelist, San Francisco, where he serves as Subdeacon, Acolyte, Eucharistic Minister and Healing Minister. He also regularly volunteers with the San Francisco/Marin Food Bank through Saint Mary the Virgin, San Franciso.

Richard Edward Helmer

Richard Edward Helmer is Minister Provincial for Province 8. Rector of Church of Our Saviour, Mill Valley, California, he also has recently served the Diocese of California and the wider church as Assistant Secretary of Diocesan Convention, president of the diocesan Standing Committee, as a deputy to General Convention, as Secretary of the House of Deputies Resolutions Review Committee, and on the Standing Commission for Structure, Governance, Constitution and Canons. He serves as the Brotherhood’s Web Administrator, develops the BSG Daily Office App, and has recently started assisting Church Publishing with preparing and editing liturgical calendar resources. A classical pianist, Richard Edward performs and accompanies regularly in recitals around the San Francisco Bay Area. He and his wife, Hiroko, and their children, Daniel and Mari, enjoy road trips together along the California Coast and visiting friends and family as far flung as Okayama, Japan, and Arkansas.

Scott Michael Pomerenk

Scott Michael Pomerenk worships at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Denver, Colorado, serving as a Eucharistic minister, acolyte, lector, lay homilist, and on the parish social justice committee. He was an Alternate Deputy to the 77th, 78th, and 79th General Conventions, and has served in several governance roles on diocesan and churchwide levels. He writes and directs short Surrealist/Expressionist films, and blogs at brscottmichael.wordpress.com. Originally from San Francisco, Scott Michael now lives in Littleton, Colorado, with his wife, Erica, and their daughter, Beatrice.

David Benedict Hedges

David Benedict Hedges is Rector of Saint Michael and All Angels Church in Tucson, Arizona, and serves on the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Arizona. He previously served parishes in the Diocese of Chicago, and as a Deputy to the 78th General Convention. He is married to Carly Flagg, a sign language interpreter, and they have a daughter, Zoe. Dave enjoys letter-writing and postal ephemera, and long road trips.
